Kahaani Ki Dukaan

Kahani Ki Dukaan is a rural community library and a performance art space dedicated to encouraging fictional reading among children through story telling, theatre, podcast and visual arts to help develop creative abilities and critical thinking. With an aim to introduce expression art, we wanted children to have a safe space to explore their dreams, fears and fantasies.

We started off with an objective to turn the village into a hub of human stories and turned a dozen of them into stories with a dash of fiction, depicted through broadways, busking, film, audio, painting, installation and an illustration book.
We are presently running four rural libraries, two in Himachal Pradesh, one each in Punjab and Madhya Pradesh. We support our libraries through Theatrical Village walks and donations. The money raised is used to buy books and stationery items for our libraries.
If you are in and around Bir, drop in for a village walk. We also accept donations in cash & kind (children's story books).
